  1. Parsing XML in Java is a common task for extracting specific fields from structured data. Java offers multiple APIs for this, with DOM and SAX being the most widely used for field extraction.

    DOM Parser Approach

    Steps:

    1. Load the XML Document into memory as a tree structure.

    2. Access Elements by Tag Name to retrieve specific fields.

    3. Extract Text Content from the nodes.

    import javax.xml.parsers.*;
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import java.io.File;

    public class DOMParserExample {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    File xmlFile = new File("books.xml");
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document doc = builder.parse(xmlFile);
    doc.getDocumentElement().normalize();

    NodeList books = doc.getElementsByTagName("book");
    for (int i = 0; i < books.getLength(); i++) {
    Element book = (Element) books.item(i);
    String title = book.getElementsByTagName("title").item(0).getTextContent();
    String author = book.getElementsByTagName("author").item(0).getTextContent();
    System.out.println("Title: " + title + ", Author: " + author);
    }
    }
    }
