    Laser modules like the KY-008 or generic diode-based modules can be easily interfaced with Arduino for projects such as laser pointers, object detection, or security systems. These modules typically operate at 3–5V, draw less than 40mA, and emit a 650nm red beam. Safety is critical — avoid direct eye exposure and reflections.

    Wiring Basics Most modules have either 3 pins (VCC, GND, SIG) or 2 pins (VCC, GND).

    • VCC → Arduino 5V

    • GND → Arduino GND

    • SIG → Arduino digital pin (for ON/OFF control)

    If only 2 pins are present, VCC also acts as the control pin.

    How It Works The Arduino outputs a HIGH signal to the SIG pin, powering the laser diode’s internal driver circuit. This energizes the semiconductor junction, producing a coherent light beam. The driver ensures stable current to protect the diode.

    How do I connect a laser module to an Arduino?
    It’s very straightforward to connect the laser module to an Arduino. First, connect the 5V and Ground pins to 5V and GND on your Arduino. Then connect the Signal pin to any of the digital output pins on your Arduino. By setting the Signal pin high or low, you can turn the laser on and off.
