Organizers of this year’s Wimbledon have said a ball boy caused the latest error from the electronic system that has replaced the traditional line umpires at this year’s tournament.

A malfunction with Wimbledon's new electronic line calling system required a point to be replayed during a quarterfinal match between Taylor Fritz and Karen Khachanov.

Around 300 line umpires were employed at Wimbledon in 2024. But with their services no longer required at the top level, their future in professional tennis now remains uncertain
