Florence police have arrested a man they say was involved in an overnight shooting that injured one person. Roderick Watkins, 24, has been charged with reckless endangerment.

A 55-year-old Lakeview man has been charged with murder after police said he shot two teen boys Thursday evening in Douglass Park – killing a 15-year-old and seriously wounding a 14-year-old.

Prosecutors said a 55-year-old lifeguard, who is a decorated Marine veteran, violated Chicago Park District policy by bringing a gun to work when he allegedly shot two teens, one fatally. The suspect claims it was self defense.
