Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry says seven people linked to a Kremlin-funded media outlet in Baku have been detained after a Monday raid on its office.

In Moscow, Azerbaijan Ambassador Rahman Mustafayev was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry after the raid and notified of "the illegal detention of Russian journalists," according to a ministry spokesperson.

Authorities in Azerbaijan arrested two journalists from the local branch of a Russian state news agency on Monday in a move likely to further stoke tensions with Moscow following arrests in Russia of ethnic Azerbaijanis suspected of serious crimes.
