Google on Wednesday added the browser as a client option for its corporate geospatial tools and introduced an API for rendering 2-D maps and adding them to Web-based applications.

Overture Maps was originally announced in late 2022, with Google’s biggest competitors on board. Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, TomTom and more mapping specialists have teamed up to create the project.

ARCore gained a Geospatial API at Google I/O 2022 to let developers more easily place virtual content in the real world. To encourage adoption, Google is starting the ARCore Geospatial API Challenge.

Google launched its latest sustainability tool, a series of environmental geospatial APIs that help cities, businesses, and other partners map solar, air quality, and pollen data worldwide.
