At the request of the president, West Virginia is sending in troops from its National Guard to support President Trump's efforts in Washington, D.C.

By adding outside troops to join the existing National Guard and federal law enforcement officers temporarily assigned to Washington, President Trump is exercising even tighter control over the city.

The 800 soldiers, in round-the-clock shifts of 100 to 200, will support Washington police and federal law enforcement officers.
