Terence Stamp, the British actor who often played the role of a complex villain, including that of General Zod in the early Superman films, has died.

A leading man and sometimes troubled villain, Stamp broke out of that typecasting to play a partying transgender woman in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
