If an object moves along a straight line, its motion can be represented by a velocity–time graph. The gradient of the line is equal to the acceleration of the object.
Constant Acceleration We are going to measure distance and time for an accelerating object and use that to find the acceleration. In the past, I would do this lab using a specialized drop timer.
The graph above is for an object which is thrown vertically upwards with an initial velocity of 20 m/s. In the time period 0-2 seconds – the object decelerates from 20 m/s to 0 m/s.
