This is a mini unicode table consisting of only 1200 characters. These characters are what I consider "important". (not that characters in other languages aren't important, they're just not in English ...

The first one can be found under the "Edit" menu as "Special characters." This menu item opens the character palette, which allows you to browse through the Unicode table in a variety of ways.
