With the recent Counter Strike Source 2 leaks, it seems those calls might get answered very soon. A new CS game is possibly in the works that is set to be made on the Source 2 Engine.

Forget yer Mars, because it turns out Source Filmmaker's script files are peppered with references to a next-gen Source engine. Over 60 mentions of Source 2 can be found in the SFM code, reports ...

That might change, though, given the hard work of [PortalRunner]. Quite literally, [PortalRunner] hacked the Source engine and Portal 2 to actually run a working HTTP web server.

Beyond the game engine itself, this soft-launch of Source 2 also includes a brand new console called VConsole2, and a new version of the Hammer map/game editor.

Notes in the Source Filmmaker files seem to indicate that Valve is actively developing a Source 2 engine.

Initially designed for Valve-developed games, the Source engine has gone on to power some of the most iconic games of all time.
