AI algorithm, named DeepCubeA, has solved a Rubik's Cube in a fraction of a second without having any specific knowledge of the domain or in-game coaching from humans.

According to the Rubik's Cube website, there are a few different ways to solve a Cube. But as far as there being one specific algorithm, it's more complex than that.

The new top speed is a massive improvement on previous Rubik’s cube robots—in 2009, for example, the record was one minute and four seconds.

But no matter the cube, the process of solving one involves math — specifically, algorithms. Roman Chavez loved Rubik's Cubes so much, he founded the Jr. Oakland Cubers in high school.

The fastest Rubik’s Cube solve might be 1.019secs thanks to an Arduino chip, some 3D-printed parts, a piece of software and two clever guys.
