Scientists in Bangladesh have documented a 10-foot-long Burmese python swallowing alive a reticulated python, an unprecedented encounter involving two of the world’s largest snake species.

Photos show 10-foot Burmese python swallowing a reticulated python whole, eating the snake from the tail up in just 2 hours.

The rare event happened in 2020, and images show a Burmese python (Python bivittatus) feasting on the reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus). The former ate the latter alive from the tail up.

The giant Burmese python has been known to consume large animals like a deer. But the length of time it can go between meals is impressive.
