In the Java edition the players will have to purchase the Realm directly from the Minecraft website. Bedrock edition and Java edition players cannot play in a Realm together.

Why is my Realm not letting me join? When trying to play Minecraft: Java Edition Realms, and you’re unable to join a Realm, it could be that you’re using an older game version.

Keep in mind though, that only Minecraft, Minecraft for Windows, and Minecraft: Java Edition support Realms. Legacy console editions such as Minecraft: Xbox One Edition does not support Realms.

The "Minecraft: Java Edition" is the classic version of "Minecraft" still updated in tandem with the Bedrock version. It is available on Mac, PC, and Linux with its own siloed Realms cross play.

For those using Minecraft’s Java Edition, you’ll need to purchase a Realm from the Minecraft website. Keep in mind that Bedrock Edition players cannot play on the same servers as Java players.
