Rohm has announced the BD81A76EFV-M, an LED driver IC optimized for LCD backlight in instrument cluster, center information displays and car navigation.

Luckily the driver card still worked so he patched into the LCD’s control lines and sniffed the signals when the printer is powered on. He used the OpenBench Logic Sniffer for this project.

Right now, the LCD screen can display bitmaps and supports image transparency. The library can not display video as of yet, but that option is being worked on.
