On both Windows 10 and 11 PCs, Microsoft Photos is the default app for opening JPG files. So, if there's a problem with this app, it may fail to open any JPG files.

If you want to open JPEG-XL image files on Windows 11, install the JPEG XL Image Extension from Microsoft to enable JPEG-XL support.

Once installed, Windows 11 File Explorer will display previews and thumbnails of JPEG XL files. Users can set JPEG XL images as desktop backgrounds and open them using Windows Media Player Legacy.
