Microsoft, which acquired GitHub for $7.5bn in 2018, launched its Visual Studio Code text editor in 2015 to compete with Atom.

The new tool will give suggestions for lines of code or entire functions inside the editor, acting like predictive text for coders.

VZ Editor, a popular text editor for MS-DOS, has been made open source 30 years after its last update, and the source code and image files have been made public on GitHub.
