If you still need Java 6 for Web applets after installing Apple's latest updates, there is a way to restore it and override Apple's preference for the use of Oracle's Java 7.
The second is a change to how OS X handles Java, in which the system will now keep the Java plug-in disabled until it is needed. This will appear for applets if you do not have Java enabled.
Safari 6.0.4 and 5.1.9 allow you to enable the Java web plug-in on a website-by-website basis, with four settings to choose from.
