In the Google Maps app, search for an address or tap and hold to drop a pin on the location you want to view. Tap the Street View preview window. Tap the center of the image.

To do this on a mobile device, simply launch the Google Maps app and tap your starting point that doesn't already have a pin. On the Dropped Pin card that shows up onscreen, select Measure Distance.
