Google won't have to sell its Chrome browser, a judge in Washington said on Tuesday, handing a rare win to Big Tech in its battle with U.S. antitrust enforcers, but ordering Google to share data with rivals to open up competition in online search.

A federal judge ruled that Google must share data with competitors -- an order aimed at ameliorating its dominance in internet search -- but rejected the U.S. government's proposal to force Google to sell its popular Chrome browser.

Alphabet’s Google does not have to sell its Chrome web browser but must share some of its search and other data with competitors, a federal judge decided in the Justice Department’s landmark case against the search giant.
