The new Snipping Tool and Notepad upgrades will roll out first to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels.

Microsoft has started testing AI-powered Notepad text rewriting and Paint image generation tools four decades after the two programs were released in the 1980s.

This even included support for tabs inside Notepad and File Explorer but was eventually shelved and not shipped to Windows 10 users. Earlier this year, Microsoft added tabs to File Explorer.
