When you try to load ROBLOX before your app has been updated, the game will give you the option to update and send you to your device's store page.

A 2023 report citing data from Roblox, Statista, and Finbold, stated that app store fees account for 23.3% of each dollar spent in Roblox.

The change — which Roblox developers praised online — comes as a slight ding to platforms like the Apple App Store since it disincentivizes purchases mediated by such app stores.

Even Apple acknowledged this when a marketing head, Trystan Kosmynka, expressed “surprise” that Roblox was approved for the App Store in 2017 in an email.
