Roblox has acquired Loom.ai for an undisclosed price to enable its users to create realistic 3D avatars. Roblox also delayed its IPO.
U.S. gaming platform Roblox Corp (RBLX.N) said on Monday it has acquired Loom.ai, a San Francisco-based startup providing real-time facial animation technology for 3D avatars.
Because the avatars resembled robots, it was decided that robot blocks was a better descriptor. When the two words were combined and stylized, the official name became Roblox.
