Thousands of people in Serbia have set up street blockades, demanding the release of anti-government demonstrators arrested during clashes with police.

Serbia's president announced Sunday more arrests of anti-government protesters following clashes with police at a massive rally demanding an early parliamentary election. Dozens have already been detained.

Riot police in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, used pepper spray and tear gas against anti-government protesters demanding new elections and an end to the long rule of President Aleksandar Vucic, even as counterdemonstrators also took to the streets.
