Mitch Marner was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. Marner, who could have become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday, signed an eight-year, $96 million contract with Toronto before the trade. It has an average annual value of $12 million.

Not winning a Stanley Cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs will probably bother right winger Mitch Marner for the rest of his career. Marner admitted he wishes he had done more to help the Maple Leafs end their 58-year Stanley Cup drought after they traded him to the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.

A trade pitch has the Toronto Maple Leafs acquiring Bryan Rust from the Pittsburgh Penguins in a blockbuster to help replace Marner.
