Terence Stamp, the British actor who often played the role of a complex villain, including that of General Zod in the early Superman films, has died.

Terence Stamp's Superman co-star Sarah Douglas had paid homage to the acting legend after he died aged 87.

Stamp's role in the film, as a transgender woman, was singled out as one of his best in a career that spanned five decades.
