A New York City Police officer is giving a loving home to a dog he helped rescue from the East River earlier this year.

Weeks after pulling her from the East River, an NYPD Harbor Unit officer has adopted Hudson the dog, who was never claimed by an owner.

An NYPD officer opened his heart and his home to a dog he helped rescue earlier this year. Channel 5's GM released a statement saying the station and its parent company require employees "to adhere to the highest ethical standards.
