The 20-year-old man’s life appeared to have begun to unravel in the months before authorities say he fatally shot two firefighters and severely wounded a third.

The suspect who police believe killed two firefighters Sunday after igniting a brush fire in Idaho with a flint fire starter wanted to pursue a career as a firefighter himself, according to his grandfather.

"When a community prays together, that's what we can do," Fr.  Len MacMillian said. "It's not a solution, but it's a better way of life."
